⦁ Dr. Timothy Effiong Okon is a geophysicist, petroleum economist, corporate strategist and financial consultant. He has a BSc (Hons) in Geology/Geophysics from ABU Zaria University (Nigeria); MSc., PhD and DIC from Imperial College (London) and MBA from Texas A&M University (Houston). Dr. Tim Okon who is currently the Special Adviser on Fiscals to the Minister of State of Petroleum Resources, started his career in 1978 as a Geophysicist/Exploration Interpretation Supervisor and served in various capacities in the Exxon Mobil Organization in the US, UK, Indonesia and Angola. He rose to become the General Manager Development Planning for Mobil Producing (an affiliate of Exxon Mobil in Nigeria) in 2006.

⦁ He was invited to join NNPC as the Group General Manager, Corporate Strategy in June 2007 and subsequently rose to the position of Acting Group Executive Director (Exploration and Production), where he led the commercial group in NNPC to evaluate all significant projects in the JVs and PSCs. In 2011, he was promoted to Group Coordinator (Corporate Planning & Strategy). He was actively involved in the reform programme of the government through the Oil & Gas Implementation Committee (OGIC). He led an inter-agency technical review team on government memorandum on the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) and managed NNPC’s transformation programme as director of transformation. He provided corporate, commercial and investment advice to the GMD and the board. He also developed long range strategic options for the oil and gas industry.

⦁ Dr Okon’s career spans almost 4 decades in the oil and gas industry with special affinity to the academia. He is a member of SEG (Society of Exploration Geophysicists), IAEE (International Association of Energy Economists), AIPN (Association of International Petroleum Negotiators), and NAPE (Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists). He has won several performance awards as a geoscientist.
